Mistaken identity? Strangers landed on Kamukunji man and assaulted him

A Kamukunji man has been charged with grievously harming another man.

Douglas Nyakundi and others not before the court were accused of injuring James Mayaka on May 5 at around 7 pm.

The complainant said he was returning home when Nyakundi and three others pointed at him, saying he was “the one”.

Before he could respond, he said, he was led to Nyakundi’s house where he was attacked with crude weapons.

Mayaka said he sustained a deep cut around his eye. The court heard Nyakundi and his accomplices fled, leaving their victim unconscious.

Neighbours who heard the commotion responded and rushed Mayaka to the hospital where he was treated. One of the neighbours reportedly identified the complainant and asked them in vain to amicably solve their dispute.

Nyakundi denied the charges.
