IEBC ready for Matumbei Ward polls

The Independent Elections and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has said all is set for the Matumbei Ward by-elections set for today.

Speaking to the Press at the IEBC Endebes Constituency offices yesterday, Returning Officer Joyce Namunyak said the commission has hired and trained 21 presiding officers, 18 deputy presiding officers and 62 polling clerks for the exercise.

In addition, there will be two police officers per polling station.

"Dispatch of election material and deployment of polling officials was done yesterday. On Monday, polling stations open at 6am and close at 5pm," she said.

The returning officer said provisional results will be relayed electronically using the Results Transmission System and official results will be declared once hard copy results from polling stations have been received and verified at the tallying centre.

Matumbei Ward has 9,190 registered voters in 15 polling centres and 18 streams.

The race has attracted five candidates from Ford Kenya, New Ford Kenya and United Republican Party.
