Seven simple ways to increase your happiness levels

3.  Spend more time with friends and family. Social time with people we love will up your levels of happiness. Cultivate your friendships and make quality time for family and watch your disposition improve greatly.

4.  Go outside more often. Spending snatches of time outside in the natural environment benefits your health. A study published in the Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health found that people who lived within a walking distance of a park or a wooded area experienced less anxiety and depression than those who lived farther away from green space.

5.  Help other people. There is joy in giving and extending a helping hand to those who need it. Additionally,  It makes one feel useful and  increases ones sense of well-being. So sign up for that volunteer work.

6.  Move closer to work. Studies show that commutes cause some level of stress to people and it builds up over time. You may not notice the toll on you because sometimes there is traffic and sometimes it is a smooth ride home. Moving closer to your workplace could reduce this. If you can’t, find a relaxing activity to pass the time. Try reading, meditation or listening to some soothing music you love.

7.  Practice gratitude. It is in practicing the art of gratitude that you realise how blessed you are and this simultaneously improves your outlook and moods. So every morning or before you sleep, make it a habit to mention things that you are grateful for.
