Barcelona star Jordi Alba has revealed the cheeky message he sent to friends at Real Madrid after their Champions League triumph last year.

"Congratulations, even though I wanted you to lose" was the message passed onto members of Los Blancos after they beat Juventus in Cardiff.

He will be hoping he doesn't have to send another similar message come this Saturday, as Madrid look to make it a threepeat when they take on Liverpool.

Speaking to Sport, Alba said that he hopes Real Madrid "lose all of their games" playing up the intense rivalry between Barcelona and the club.

Crowned champions with four games to spare, Zinedine Zidane's side refused to give the Catalan giants a guard of honour before the El Clasico.

Asked whether he felt disrespected by it, Alba took the middle ground:

"It’s more to do with the media than the teams, but they will have their reasons for not doing it. We’re still champions regardless.”

Alba has made it perfectly clear who he will be rooting for during the final, and despite having some Spanish teammates on show for Madrid, he will be hoping Liverpool can upset the odds to complete a magnificent Champions League campaign.

Talking to reporters he said: "I have a contradictory relationship, more than odd, with my Madrid teammates."

"When Barcelona win titles it's bad for Madrid, and on the contrary, my relationship with them in the national team is good."

The Spanish full-back has won 13 trophies in his time at Barcelona, and was also part of the Spain side that won the European Championship in 2012.

Born in the Catalan town of L'Hospitalet, the rivalry between the two giants of La Liga was pushed on him from a young age. No love lost when it comes to El Clasico.
