Taekwondo: Olympian Ogallo upbeat ahead of Africa Taekwondo Championship

Olympian Faith Ogallo has expressed confidence in the national taekwondo team ahead of the African Taekwondo Championship set to kick off on Friday in Kigali. Rwanda.

The national team left the country in two batches by road for Rwanda.

The first team left Sunday afternoon followed by the second team on Wednesday.

Olympian Milka Akinyi along with Christopher Mutua, Cosmas Kimathi, Moses Mairang’a, Victor Nyakinda, Kennedy Kimemia, Hassan Juma and Hassan Nyare travelled on Sunday  and arrived on Tuesday.

The second group comprising Olympian Faith Ogallo, Shawn Michael, Evans Oloo, Innocent Wafula, Moses Obara, Sharon Wafula, Stephen Odhiambo and Everline Aluoch left on Wednesday.

Speaking to the Standard Sports, Ogallo said they are optimistic of good results at the annual competition which has attracted 21 countries.

 “My goal and target is to win a medal above bronze,” said Ogallo via phone interview.

“We started camping in February as a team and I believe we are well prepared because we have had enough time training together.”

“My message to Kenyans and fans out there is that we need your support and encouragement because as taekwondo team we are giving it our very best this time round,” said Ogallo.

Last year, Kenya finished eighth in Senegal with three bronze medals from Ogallo, Aluoch and Muriu.
