Lukenya Academy splashes to victory in PIPSSA championships

Lukenya Academy are champions of the Private and International Preparatory Schools Sports Association (PIPSSA) Invitational Swimming Championships.

The gala was held at Brookshine Schools in Ruai, Nairobi.

Lukenya swimmers successfully defended the title after dominating most of the races for the second time in a row. They garnered 1,078.50 points for the overall title.

The school also won boys’ and girls’ titles with 423 and 655.50 points respectively. Lukenya Schools also won the combined boys and girls medal tally with 136, after winning 53 gold, 45 silver and 38 bronze.

Regis School Runda and The Aga Khan High School Nairobi took the second and third positions with 567 and 190.50 points respectively. 

In the boys’ category, Regis had 232 points, while Aga Khan High School Nairobi had 102.50 points.

In girls’ category, Regis were behind Lukenya Schools with 335 points while Aga Khan High School had 88 points.

In the medal tally, Regis were second with 67, which included 23 gold, 22 silver and 22 bronze, while Aga Khan High School were third with 22 medals; 11 gold, eight silver and three bronze.

The gala attracted several swimming teams from Nairobi, Kiambu, Kajiado and Machakos.

The teams included Lukenya Academy, Regis School Runda, Brookshine Schools, The Aga Khan High School Nairobi, Nova Pioneer, Umoja Sharks, Al-Ameen Academy, The Harpoons, Sunnyside Swim Team, Spdk and NCA.

Most of the swimmers qualified for PIPSSA National Championships.
