All focus will be on teenage sensation Aldrine Kibet when Junior Stars take on Sudan in the opening match of the Council of East and Central Africa Football Association (Cecafa) Under-18 championships at Jomo Kenyatta Stadium in Kisumu on Saturday from 3pm.

Kibet orchestrated an awe-inspiring narrative after helping St Anthony’s Boys Kitale win their sixth Kenya Secondary School Sports Association (KSSSA) football title in Kakamega, in August.

Apart from scoring in the 1-0 win over Shanderema in the semi-finals, Kibet scored a brace as St Anthony’s saw off Dagoretti High School 2-0 at Bukhungu Stadium.

It’s these heroics that saw the 17-year-old join Nastic Sports Academy in Spain together with his teammates Amos Wanjala and Alvin Kasavuli. The trio are all in Salim Babu’s squad.

Kisumu Day star Duncan Omalla, brother to Gor Mahia and Harambee Stars striker Benson Omalla is also part of the team that will be hoping to make a winning start to the tournament today.

Other players in the team are Kariobangi Sharks’ Stanley Wilson and Sigmun Maina, Sofapaka’s Baron Ochieng, Ulinzi Stars' Lucas Maina and Kakamega Homeboyz’s Ibrahim Wanzala.

Tyron Kariuki, Manzur Suleiman and Joseph Bate join from Division one sides.

Kenya are Group A alongside Somalia, Rwanda, Sudan and Djibouti.
