Barely less than 24 hours since the death of Nakuru RFC player, Mike Okombe, the rugby fraternity is in mourning once again.

Wekesa was travelling in company of his twin brother John Wekesa and both were pronounced death on arrival  at Mariakani Hospital on Sunday 5 November, in Mombasa.

Peter captained the Homeboyz side that won the ESS Cup, consequently earning the club’s promotion to the Kenya Cup in 2011.

It is also understood that the pair was brothers to the late Andrew Wekesa (former Homeboyz rugby player who was stabbed to death in January 2017 in Kitengela.)

Homeboyz RFC have since issued a statement that read,

“Homeboyz Rugby Club expresses our deep and heartfelt condolences and joins in praying for the sorrowing family who have lost three young men in less than a year. Let our Almighty God take the departed souls to their Heavenly Abode and give the entire family strength to bear this heartbreaking loss”

Through his Facebook post Menengai RFC head coach Paul Amunavi mourned the former Impala Saracens player saying “It is great sorrow and sad news about the death of our former player and Captain Peter Wekesa.”

Further updates will be issued as soon as they are received.
