IAAF officials visit to inspect facilities

Two top IAAF officials visited Kenyatta University on Monday to inspect ongoing renovation of facilities where athletes who will take part in the 2017 IAAF World U-18 Athletics Championship in July will be hosted.

The visiting IAAF officials included Head of Events Operations Carlo De Angeli and Head of Competitions Management Lius Saladie. They said they were satisfied with the repairs.

University Chancellor Paul Wainaina assured the IAAF officials, who were accompanied by Local Organisation Committee CEO Mwangi Muthee, that the works at Nyayo hostels comprising of six blocks will be completed by end of April.

“We have mobilised enough contractors, the work so far is good and I can assure you the quality of renovations will meet IAAF requirements,” Wainaina said.

The team inspected some of the sample rooms that will house the athletes, the kitchen facilities and the grounds. On their part, the IAAF team expressed satisfaction with the work done so far.
