Blow to Manchester City/Barcelona as target Nolito conceals future

Nolito

Manchester City target Nolito has spoken of his “pride” at being wanted by Pep Guardiola.

City are hoping to seal the £14million capture of the Spain winger, who has impressed at Euro 2016, but face competition from Barcelona.

Nolito, speaking ahead of Spain's last 16 clash with Italy, said he had not had any contact with Guardiola or Barca coach Luis Enrique, but admitted their interest was flattering.

“It's a matter of pride if two major coaches like Luis Enrique and Guardiola notice you and are interested,” said Nolito.

“I'm lucky that I'm being considered, and that strengthens me, but I'm focused on the Euros and nothing else. I've not spoken to either of them.”

City are said to have moved ahead of Barca in the race to sign Nolito, who fears he would play more games under Guardiola than Enrique.

The Celta Vigo star, 29, added: “I’m here enjoying this like a child, and not thinking about it. If Barcelona buy another striker, I have no problem, congratulations to them.”
