Nigeria lose yet another football hero

Nigeria’s side Super Eagles has suffered yet another blow following the demise of their coach Amodu Shuaibu.

According to Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) reports, the former footballer and Nigeria's Super Eagles current caretaker passed away late on Friday after succumbing to chest pains.

NFF Technical Director, Amodu Shuaibu has died at the age of 58.

The 58-year old’s sad news comes three weeks after Former Nigeria football coach Stephen Keshi died aged 54 of a suspected heart attack.

Shuaibu, who qualified Nigeria to two World Cups, in 2002 and 2010, was to have replaced Sunday Oliseh, who quit as the country's coach in February, but he declined on health grounds.

The top coach was recently appointed Nigeria technical director.

History

He came into the management of the Nigerian national team in April 2001 after he had guided BCC Lions of Gboko to win the Africa Cup Winners Cup in 1991 and lead until February 2002.

After his dismissal, NFF reappointed him in April 2008 and later sacked in February 2010.

He became super eagle’s technical director in May 2013 and later in October 2014, Kuaibu took over the super eagles from Stephen Keshi.

He also handled top South African club Orlando Pirates between 1996 and 1997.
