Arsene Wenger: Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil are happy at the Emirates

Arsene Wenger expects Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil to sign new deals this summer after insisting they are “keen to stay.”

Gunners forward Sanchez and Germany World Cup star Ozil have both got two years left on their current contracts.

Arsenal have begun negotiations and Mirror Sport understands Ozil is close to penning a new deal which will take him up to £160,000-a-week with big add-ons. Sanchez has also held negotiations on a similar contract.

Gunners boss Wenger said: “These two players have two years on their contract at the end of the season. We are not in a hurry. We are talking and the players are very keen to stay.”

Arsenal are plotting a big summer overhaul as they look for a new No2 keeper with David Ospina set to go and Wojciech Szczesny could move on after his impressive loan spell at Roma.

They are very confident on signing Borussia Monchengladbach’s Swiss midfielder Granit Xhaka and also want a midfielder and a forward. Juventus striker Alvaro Morata is among their targets.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could go with strong interest from West Ham, Manchester City and Southampton. While Kieran Gibbs may also leave and Leicester’s Ben Chilwell is on Arsenal’s wish list.
