Impala Saracens on Saturday qualified to the semifinals of the Enterprise Cup after coming from 13 points behind to beat Top Fry Nakuru 20-16.
Impala, the 2019 Enterprise Cup finalists, started the match on the back foot after finding themselves trailing by six points in the opening 10 minutes.
Fredrick Odongo converted two quick fire penalty kicks to give Nakuru and early 6-0 lead.
Hannington Wabwire made the matters even worse for Impala after dashing to the try line for the match’s the first try of the match that was converted by Odongo as Nakuru lead 13-0.
Odongo bagged two more points from the resultant conversion and the side moved to 13-0.
Trailing by more than 10 points, it was captain Elkeans Musonye who initiated the comeback after scoring Impala’s first try which was unconverted at the stroke of halftime with the scores reading 13-5.
In the final half, Impala came from the break stronger to score their second try through prop Brian Ochieng which was converted to close the gap 13-12.
Odongo drilled in another penalty for a 16-12 lead for Nakuru before Anthony Odhiambo kicked in a penalty that saw Impala Saracens close in on Wanyore once again.
With the match almost nearing full time and Nakuru leading by a point, Quinto Ongo crossed over for the winning try
Nakuru reached the quarters after been awarded a walkover after MMUST failed to turn-up for the round of 16 match.
Impala Saracens on the other hand had eliminated Menengai Oilers following a 24-17 win last weekend.
