TEAMS TO SETTLE SCORES AT Kabeberi: Homeboyz ready to sort out their differences with Nakuru RFC

Fresh from their cup winning exploits at the Prinsloo Sevens in Nakuru, Homeboyz RFC have been seeded first for this weekend’s (August 13-14) National Sevens Series second round, the George Mwangi Kabeberi Memorial Sevens at the RFUEA Grounds

The Deejays will battle with national series champions Nakuru RFC who beat them 8-5 in the Kabeberi Cup quarters last year, Western Bulls and new comers CITAM Kisumu in Pool A.

The Kisumu based side will be making their debut at Division One competition after featuring in Division Two at Prinsloo Sevens.

Last year’s losing finalists Impala headlines Pool B which has Kabras Sugar, Kenyatta University’s Blak Blad and Mean Machine of the University of Nairobi.

Holders and host club Mwamba are in Pool C alongside Kenya Harlequin, Catholic Monks and the new kid on the block Menengai Oilers.

Pool D consists of former national champions KCB, Strathmore, Nondescripts and unpredictable Kisii RFC.
In Division Two, Daystar Falcons, Kisumu RFC, Masaku RFC and MKU Thika are the top seeds. Other notable teams in this category include Moi University, Stormers and TUK.

Division Two matches kicks off today at the RFUEA Grounds before wrapping up on Saturday at Impala Club as the top tier competition kicks off.
The tournament will also feature women’s and under 16 action.

Meanwhile, for the first time in 26 years, there will be a dedicated children’s corner to cater for the young ones during this year’s George Mwangi Kabeberi Memorial.

The corner dubbed Kulabu Kiddies Corner will feature jumping castles, kids’ swings, face painting and a mini rugby games.

“We decided to have a safe and conducive corner for kids as many parents who came to watch the games complained of noise and lack of alcohol-free stands for the kids,” said Mwamba Rugby’s honorary secretary Jason Braganza.
