President William Ruto is among the dignitaries attending the inauguration of President Paul Kagame, who is set to begin his fourth term in office.

The ceremony follows Kagame’s successful re-election on July 15.

State House spokesperson Hussein Mohammed announced the visit on X on Sunday, August 11.

“President Ruto travels to Kigali, Rwanda, today at the invitation of Paul Kagame to attend the inauguration ceremony of President Kagame for his fourth term,” said Mohammed.

“Under President Kagame, Kenya-Rwanda relations have blossomed, with commercial and people-to-people ties further consolidating for the mutual benefit of both countries and the region.”

The inauguration will take place at Amahoro Stadium, where more than 40,000 people are expected to gather.

Over 23 Heads of State from across Africa, including Ruto and Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu, are confirmed attendees.

The ceremony will feature a grand military parade and traditional dance performances, highlighting Rwanda’s cultural heritage. Kagame has led Rwanda since 2000.

The trip marks President Ruto’s first international trip in two months following recent protests by Gen Z.
