Kenya Police FC have signed former Gor Mahia and Simba SC midfielder Francis Kahata.

Kahata joins the Law Enforcers from the Ethiopian side of Sidama Coffee SC where he had just spent four months after running down his contract at Tanzanian giants Simba SC.

Police who are making their maiden appearance in the FKF Premier League on Friday confirmed the acquisition of the player on a one-year contract.

Kahata is capped over 30 times by the national football team, Harambee Stars.

In the process, Police have now signed more than seven household names as they attempt to create a strong team that can compete for the title.

Kahata will be joining John Makwata who has since moved to AFC Leopards, Duke Abuya, Clifton Miheso, Musa Mohamed, Duncan Otieno, David ‘Messi’ Owino, Eric Juma, Job Ochieng and Geoffrey Shiveka.

The 29-year-old made his name at Gor Mahia when he joined the club in 2015.

Kahata helped the club to win three league titles and scored a crucial goal against South African side SuperSport United which sent K’Ogalo to the group stage of the Caf Confederation Cup in 2018.

Apart from Gor Mahia, Simba, and Sidama, Kahata also played for Albanian side KF Tirana in the Superliga.
