Nairobi City Stars moved third in the log after defeating newbies FC Talanta 2-1 in a FKF Premier League match staged at the Kasarani Annex on Saturday.

Victory saw City Stars bounced back to winning ways after their midweek 1-0 defeat to AFC Leopards on Wednesday.

Anthony Kimani and Sven Yidah first half goals were enough for City Stars to collect maximum points as Francis Kahiro scored Talanta’s consolation.

City Stars came into the clash on the back of patchy results after registering mixed fortunes.

First, they had shocked record Kenyan champions Gor Mahia last weekend after defeating them 2-0 but lost against AFC Leopards in their mid-week fixture.

The newbies on the other hand were riding high on their Tuesday heroics which saw them not only defeat but also end Kakamega Homeboyz’s unbeaten run in the league.

Captain Kimani opened the scoring at the half hour mark after he converted a beautiful pass from Ezekiel Odera to give City Stars a 1-0 lead.

Five minutes later, Simba wa Nairobi, as they are commonly referred to double the scores when Yidah tapped in a rebound to give City Stars a 2-0 halftime lead.

In the final half, Talanta pulled a goal back against the run of play when Alvin Ochieng delivered a cross that was converted by Kahiro to set up a nerve ending to the match with 10 minutes left to play.

However, City Stars held on to win the match 2-1.
