KCB seek more from bank to keep Tusker party on hold

Title hopefuls KCB will have to dig deep into their bank accounts as they seek to bounce back to winning ways when they play AFC Leopards today in Thika.

The bankers will be out to stop Tusker from winning their 12th title as the Football Kenya Federation Premier League season comes to an end this weekend.

Tusker, who are three points ahead of KCB with 61 points and one win away from being declared this season’s champions, come up against Nzoia Sugar at Sudi Stadium.

The bankers’ title hopes suffered a major setback after a shock 2-1 loss to relegation-threatened Vihiga United last weekend and will want to redeem themselves against Leopards.

A win for KCB will delay Tusker’s coronation as the new 2021 Premier League champions, however, they have to climb through a tough encounter against Ingwe who are eager for a third-place finish after missing out on both the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup slots.

With the title Tusker’s to lose, the brewers will be guaranteed the title today if they get maximum points at Sudi stadium and second-placed KCB loses to Leopards and Robert Matano is keen on performing well.

“The pressure is on us rather than KCB. We need to perform well against Nzoia Sugar. It’s not yet over even if we win and we will work hard to ensure we win all our remaining matches,” Matano said.

On the backside, the race to avoid relegation will also most likely be decided in the last two matches with Mathare United, Vihiga United and Western Stima separated by one oint in between them.

Western Stima are bottom on 22 points with two games to go, Vihiga United, second from bottom, have 23 points and one match left, while Mathare United, who are 24 points, also have two games left.

Stima will be hoping to get out of the bottom by defeating Wazito today with Vihiga, who are one point above them, having a rest day before hosting Mathare Unitd on the final day of the season.

Mathare United will host Ulinzi Stars in the second match of the day at Ruaraka Grounds. The Slum Boys have been fighting to avoid relegation and their determination has seen them climb from bottom to 15th with 24 points.

Bidco United will face Kariobangi Sharks in Thika.
