AFC Leopards captain Robinson Kamura has told Gor Mahia FC to brace for a tough battle in the FKF Cup final slated for July 4.

Kamura said it will be a repeat of the 2013 edition where Ingwe edged K'Ogalo 1-0 to punch a ticket to the CAF's Confederation Cup.

"We already have our claws on the trophy, come the D-Day it will just be a matter of snatching the trophy from our opponents," Kamura told The Standard Sports.

Kamura said AFC playing unit is giving their all in the FKF Premier League where they are currently lying fourth, tied on 37 points with their bitter rivals placed third.

AFC were due to play Mathare United FC on Wednesday in a midweek KPL clash.

"We are also out to win the league, we want the trophy to make our fans happy."

"I urge our supporters to pray and support the team during these difficult times of COVID-19," said Kamura.

On Tuesday, the team received Sh217,000 reward for beating Bungoma United FC in the FKF Cup quarters.

The token, donated by AFC Nairobi West branch is part of the "AFC Shinda League" initiative that has been started by the branches.

"The money will cater for the players' bonuses for beating Bungoma United," said Salim Simon, AFC Nairobi West Branch Secretary General.

Branch treasurer Peter Lubia noted that the players have not been doing well financially because of the hard times brought about by the coronavirus pandemic.

"Apart from giving the players moral support, we need to boost them financially," said Lubia.

Frankline Imbenzi who heads all the club branches said he is hopeful that they will finally win the league after a 23-year hiatus.

Branch chairman Francis Liboi said they have United to inspire the players to go for the two titles.

"We will be happy if they win the league and the FKF Cup this season," Liboi said.
