Gor Mahia head coach Manuel Vaz Pinto says his team will go out with a lot of commitment for victory when they face Nairobi City Stars at Utalii Grounds in Nairobi today at 3.15 pm in the FKF Premier league.

It will be the first meeting between the two sides since City Stars were relegated from the top division at the end of the 2016 season.

K'Ogalo are currently placed seventh on the log with 22 points, two more than City Stars who sit 10th albeit having played two more games more.

Despite Gor’s inconsistent results before the Covid-19 induced break in March, Pinto is confident they will come out on top.

“Our last game was about two months ago but we are happy to be back. We worked on the physical integrity of the players with apprehension and ee go in search of dynamics and with a lot of commitment for victories,” he said.

Gor defeated Bidco United 3-1 in their last game before the March break and they will be hoping to build on that win.

The Green Army’s first league encounter against City Stars, then known as World Hope was in December in the year 2005 where Gor lost 1-0in the first leg.

The last meeting between the two clubs was in July 2016 when goals by current Captain Harun Shakava and Collins Okoth them win 2-1.

Nicholas Kipkirui and Peter Opiyo, if selected for City Stars will be joining other notable players such as Jimmy Bagaye, Donald Mosoti, Ken Oliech and Steve Biko as players to have featured for both sides in this fixture.

Other fixtures will feature Mathare United take on Vihiga United at Ruaraka Grounds as Sofapaka host Wazito in Wundanyi.
