Aston Villa have sacked Steve Bruce as manager following a run of just one win in their last 10 games.

Villa drew 3-3 with Preston on Tuesday night in Bruce's last game in charge having led 2-0 and missed a penalty to earn the win in stoppage-time.

They are 12th in the Championship and sit seven points off the top two after a tumultuous summer.

John Terry and Dean Smith are among the early front-runners to succeed Bruce at Villa Park.
