Cool! Cristiano Ronaldo puts the freeze on injuries by buying a 'giant ice box' (Criosauna)

a  'giant ice box' (Criosauna)

Cristiano Ronaldo has come up with a cool way of avoiding injury – by installing a £45,000 Criosauna in his house.

The superstar forward, who has a vital few months ahead of him, is under pressure to deliver for both club and country.

Real Madrid are fighting Barcelona for the La Liga title, while Portugal must beat Sweden for a place at the World Cup in their crunch play-off game.

Ronaldo is integral in both situations and he is doing all he can to make sure he stays in peak condition – and does not get injured.

According to reports in Spain, the former Manchester United man installed a Criosauna, essentially a huge ice box, in his La Finca mansion this week – at a cost of £45,000.

The equipment uses cryotherapy to freeze muscles at temperatures of -200°C, in a bid to help accelerate their recovery.

The practice is becoming increasingly popular in modern sport, although most athletes have to hire a chamber from a specialist company.

But not Ronaldo, who has put his newly earned Madrid pay rise to use by splashing out on one of his own.
