Wanyama named Celtic Young Player of the Year

Kenyan ace midfielder Victor Mugubi Wanyama scooped the Celtic Young Player of the Year at a ceremony held in Glasgow, Scotland Sunday night.

This comes after Wanyama had put an outstanding performance in the Scottish Premier League (SPL) this season that saw his club winning a second consecutive title.

The Harambee Stars midfielder is also a nominee for the prestigious Young Player of the Year award in the SPL, and was furthermore shortlisted as one of the three most promising players on the African continent by the Confederation of African Football (Caf) in November 2012.

Wanyama will contest for the PFA award, along with Dundee United duo Stuart Armstrong and Gary Mackay-Steven and Leigh Griffiths of Hibernian.
