Former Machachari actor Malik Lemmy famously known by his stage name ‘Govi’ says he prefers dating older women.
Speaking to Mpasho, the youthful actor who launched his acting career at the age of five demystifies what dating an older woman means.
“Old means someone who been around for long, I am open to dating any type of woman but my preference is or has been for a long time, dating older women. For me, older can be a day older than me, 2 months older or can even be 50 years older,” he told Mpasho
Speaking on dealing with heartbreaks, the actor said he doesn’t hold grudges and urged men to accept rejection from women and allow each other time to heal instead of causing each other trauma.
“I don’t like it when men call out women saying that they are proud. When a woman says no, accept it, not everything has to be sexual, you can be friends. I have learned that a boy can just be friends with a girl, not everything has to end up as a sexual relationship,” he said.
The pet lover said that when it comes to love, people make their own decisions, “people have their own preferences, you can’t make decisions for them.”
He said that it was hard dealing with the fact that fans will always see him as a kid because they saw him growing but he has since gotten used to it.
“Sometimes when you give heartfelt thoughts, people make fun saying that they saw me grow, just because I am 22 years old, doesn’t mean I can’t reason with a 40-year-old” he revealed that he listens to even younger people.
“The oldest person I have dated was 4 years older than I am, and I think that is my limit. I can’t date someone who is above four years.”
The Kenyan actor said the reason why he prefers older women is because he has been exposed to a lot of adults since he started working in 2005.
“Being exposed to adults at a very young age made me see I can’t be with kids, I always wondered why kids got homesick while in school. For me it was nothing,” he said.
Govi further revealed that he has had about 200 cats and 6 dogs this far and describes himself as a pet person.
