Nairobi and Coast are to host regional cross country championships which will be used to select their teams to National Cross country Championships slated for next Saturday at Ngong Race Course.

Kenya’s team to the World Cross Country Championships scheduled for Australia in March will be picked after the meeting at Ngong.

The Nairobi Cross Country Championship will be held tomorrow at the Nairobi West Prison grounds and some of the stars expected to compete include Sandra Felis Chebet and Triza Cheprotich from Lemotit Athletics Camp in Londiani.

In Wundanyi, athletes from the six Coastal Counties will lock horns as the region picks a team to the national showpiece.

Dimmy Kisalu, Athletics Kenya Coast chair and national vice treasurer confirmed they are ready for the one day championships today.

“We can confirm that we are ready for the regional cross country championship and athletes will spend the night in the region. We will start the various categories in the morning,” Kisalu said.

The event will have 6km for the junior girls, junior men 8-kilometre category and senior men and women 10 km race.
