AFC Leopards on Wednesday came from two goals down to force a 2-2 draw against Sofapaka in a thrilling midweek Football Kenya Federation Premier League match played at the Wundanyi Stadium in Taita Taveta County.

Austine Otieno converted a late free kick in the final half to salvage a point for Ingwe who failed to capitalise on Tusker FC’s slip on Tuesday to go top of the table. Tusker lost 1-0 to Posta Rangers.

Former Gor Mahia midfielder Lawrence Juma scored a 10-minute brace to give Batoto ba Mungu an early 2-0 before Elvis Rupia pulled a goal back in the 27th minute as Sofapaka took a narrow 2-1 lead at the break.

Otieno would, however, save Ingwe from losing all the three points after converting a well-taken free-kick in the 72nd minute.

The draw leaves Ingwe third with 37 points, three points behind defending champions Gor Mahia.

Gor Mahia narrowly edged out bottom placed Mathare United 1-0 in a tight match played at Ruaraka Grounds.

Mathare defender Lennox Ogutu deflected Alpha Onyango’s cross into his own net in the 42nd minute to give Gor the lead.

The win saw the reigning champions maintain the pressure on the top three teams. Gor are now five points shy of league leaders KCB who defeated Bidco United 1-0 to dislodge Tusker from top spot.

At Utalii Grounds, Wazito FC ended their seven-match winless streak after defeating Kariobangi Sharks 2-0.

Kevin Kimani gave the moneybags the lead in the 28th minute before turning provider by assisting Rooney Onyango to head in Wazito’s second and winning goal.

The win propelled Wazito to 10th in the standings with 26 points.
