Chelsea transfer news: Gunners striker Aubameyang linked with move to Chelsea

Reports: Frank Lampard interested in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Chelsea are being linked with a shock move to sign Gunners striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from London rivals Arsenal.

According to  Bleacher Report, Chelsea are monitoring Aubameyang's situation at Arsenal with a view to a summer move.

The report further adds that Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is keen to bolster his attacking ranks this summer and believes Aubameyang would add world-class ability to his squad.

The Gunners, meanwhile, are hopeful their star forward will sign a new contract at the club.

This is after the 30 year-old in January publicly hit out at transfer speculation linking him with a move away from the club.

Aubameyang will only have 12 months left to run on his current £200,000-a-week contract this summer and looks like it won’t be feasible to improve those terms given the potentially devastating financial effect of Coronavirus and the prospect of another year outside of the Champions League.

Aubameyang has also been linked with a move to Manchester United this summer.

The Gabon forward moved to the Emirates Stadium in January 2018 and has been prolific in the Premier League, scoring 49 goals for the north London club.
