For most Manchester United fans, football has never been the same since the season 2012/2013.

Since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson, Man United has been nothing but a shell of its former self, with fans all over the world growing impatient at waiting for another major title.

The third manager after Fergie’s departure, Jose Mourinho, tried to salvage Man United’s pride by lifting the Europa League in Stockholm, Sweden in 2017.  However, even his ‘Special’ nature was not enough to convince the hierarchy he was the right man for the job.

On Tuesday, December 2018, Mourinho was sacked following a humiliating loss at the hands of arch-rivals Liverpool. This defeat, was the final nail in Mourinho’s Man United coffin, having already encountered incidences that threatened his tenure that more or less contributed to his sacking.

Of all of Mourinho’s incidences and controversies, one was the never-ending feud with French star Paul Pogba.

Mourinho was frustrated with Pogba on a number of occasions and even went to lengths of substituting him prematurely or leaving him on the bench in crucial matches.

Since Mourinho’s departure, it can be argued the Frenchman has improved, though has not spent time on the pitch to justify his price tag.

Pogba has left a number of Man United fans frustrated by the amount of time he spends injured, with some on social media even suggesting the 2018 World Cup winner didn’t want to play for Man United anymore.

However, the Frenchman has come out to clear his name. In an interview with Man United uploaded on April 11 , Pogba explained what really happened to his injury and why he has been out of action for so long.

“You have to be very patient because, well my injury, I don’t know if people really know what happened So I had a foot injury, which came in the game against Southampton. It was early this season and so I carried this for a long time, training and trying to be playing with it. After I stopped, I found I had a fracture. I had a cast on it, a plaster-cast, so it went very well but too well. The bone got bigger and so, when I came back again, I played those two games against Watford and Newcastle, I could feel something again. So I had to have an operation and now here I am. I don’t feel anything and, hopefully, I’ll be back very soon, “said Pogba.

The 27-year –old explained how frustrating it’s been for him on the sidelines, but expressed hope of returning to the pitch once everything is over.

“I've been frustrated, a long time ago. Now I'm almost there, so I'm just thinking about getting back and training fully with the team and everything. You think bad but I've never had something like this in my career, so I always take it in a good way. It makes me more hungry to come back and do well. And, yeah, it just shows me as well how much I love football.

Pogba also revealed he missed the matchday routine but expressed confidence of coming back stronger.

“To be honest, yeah. I don’t even know how it feels like anymore. I can’t wait to have this feeling again. I miss it because that’s my job, to play football. I really enjoy playing football,” the Frenchman explained.
