Diamond 10km run set for Uhuru Park on November 30

Nairobi is set to host the Diamond 10km run on November 30 at Uhuru Park.

The event, organised by Right Here-Golazo, a subsidiary of Belgium-based Golazo Sports in partnership with Athletics Kenya (AK) will see athletes run through the Central Business District and winners pocketing Sh200,000 in prize money.

The race’s main theme is to encourage everyone on the need for a healthier lifestyle while nurturing and developing the upcoming athletes to become world champions.

“It’s great now we have a strategic partner who will push the event to next level. In fact we are planning to organise many series across the country from next year.

“After taking a break since the inaugural race in 2014, we want to build from that success and make the event better,” said Barnaba Korir who is also the AK Youth Development chairman.

Right Here-Golazo, Managing Director Betty Kairo said the Nairobi edition will showcase multi-ethic culture, rich history and modern architectural within Nairobi Central Business District.

“This is a unique event that encourages living healthier lifestyle while nurturing and developing the upcoming athlete. The race is set across the streets of Nairobi’s CBD and ending up at the Uhuru Park,” Kairo said.

Apart from 10km main race, the event will also have master race, wheelchair events and co-operate fun run.

The winners of 10km race will walk away with Sh200,000, second place picking Sh100,000 while third place finisher will pocket Sh50,000. This race will start at 2pm.

Florence Kiplagat and Amos Kiplimo Mitei won the the inaugural race in 2014.
