GSU to face AP after beating Kenya Prisons

Champions General Service Unit (GSU) will face Administration Police (AP) Kenya today after winning its two matches during the first day of the seventh leg of the 2019 Kenya Volleyball Federation National league in yesterday.

GSU beat Kenya Prisons and Prisons Mombasa as it seeks to spike its way to the top.

A total of nine matches in the men’s volleyball and five matches in the women category were played.

The Gideon Tarus-coached side disarmed Prisons Mombasa team 3-0 in the league played at the Kapsabet Show Grounds in Nandi County.

GSU easily secured the first set in 25-7 before Prisons Mombasa proved to be challenging in the second and third sets winning 25-17 and 25-22 respectively.

In its second match, GSU beat rivals Kenya Prisons to a 3-2.

Kenya Prisons opened the first set with a 25-23 win before GSU put on a spirited fight to take the second set in 33-21.

David Lung’aho’s men fought back to win the third set as GSU made a comeback, winning the fourth and fifth set in 25-16 and 15-9 respectively.

Tarus said his squad is ready to face AP Kenya and Equity Bank in today’s matches.

“We are ready and our ultimate goal is to retain the title. Kenya Prisons was a strong team but their challenge has helped us prepare well for tomorrow,” Tarus said last evening.

Kenya Defence Forces beat AP Kenya 3-2 (25-15, 25-15, 25-19), as Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) edged Prisons Kenya 3-2.

Equity Bank won against Prisons Mombasa in 3-2 (24-26, 25-22, 13-25, 25-14, 15-7).

In the women’s matches, KDF taught Ashton a hard Volleyball lesson, winning 3-0 but ended up getting a humiliating 3-0 beating from Kenya Pipeline.

Kenya pipeline won 3-0 (25-20, 25-17 and 25-18) against Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
