Harambee Stars and Kashiwa Reysol striker Michael Olunga has been crowned August player of the month.
Olunga, who plays in the Japanese second-tier league, (Kashiwa Reysol) was awarded for displaying his fine form in the league.
He thanked his teammates for the award and promised to win more accolades.
“I am happy to be elected August player of the month. I would like to thank God Almighty for His blessings.
“Without you, it wouldn't be possible. My teammates, my supporters and everyone who believes in me, I am truly thankful All I can do is to continue working harder. GOD ABOVE ALL,” Olunga posted on Twitter.
The former Gor Mahia talisman scored his first hat-trick for Kashiwa Reysol against Renofa Yamaguchi in August as they hammered Renofa Yamaguchi 4-1.
Olunga's goals came in the third, 61st and the second minute of added time. He was also voted man of the match for his brilliance.
Olunga joined the Japanese second division side in August 2018.
He featured for his country on Sunday when Harambee Stars came from behind to hold arch-rivals Uganda Cranes to a 1-1 draw in a thrilling friendly match at Kasarani Stadium, Nairobi.
The ‘Engineer’ (Olunga) almost won the match with a last gasp winner for Kenya, but he was denied by the post to the disappointment of the home fans.
