The Kenya national football team Harambee Stars will wear their new red kit in their Africa Cup of Nations opener, it has been revealed.

The kit, manufactured by a 48-year-old Italian sporting apparel company Macron, has a new collar design that makes it different from other kits at AFCON.

According to the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) website, the decision was revealed during the pre-match meeting held in Egypt.

The pumped-up Stars’ team, on Saturday, went ahead to get a feel of the 30 June Stadium turf that is set to mark their return to the continental scene.

Kenya will grace the turf at the continental event for the first time in 15 years against the Desert Foxes of Algeria on Sunday 23rd at 11:00 East African Time.

Algeria are expected to provide a serious challenge to the Stars but skipper Victor Wanyama is confident ahead of the clash.

“We are viewed as underdogs but football has changed and teams have proved that before. We respect our opponents a lot but it will not be easy for them at all. It’s a motivation for us to be in the finals for the first time and we are looking to give a good account of ourselves. It’s an opportunity for us to learn more from the finals,” Said the big man ahead of the big day.
