Is coach Paul Bitok headed to Kenya Pipeline?

Veteran coach Paul Bitok could be on his way to former national women’s league champions Kenya Pipeline.

The former Kenya men’s team captain, who has had an illustrious ten-year coaching career with Rwandan national teams, is expected to return home after the expiry of his contract with the Rwanda Volleyball Federation (FRVB) on June 30.

With the oil-merchants yet to confirm Japheth Munala’s successor after the national women’s team head coach re-joined KCB at the end of last season, Bitok and his former teammate David Lung’aho have emerged as favourites for the job.

The coaching position is currently held on an interim basis by ex-international Margaret Indakala.

When contacted, Bitok who trained KCB (men and women’s teams) and Malkia Strikers before moving to Rwanda in 2009, could neither confirm nor deny his link with the Embakasi-based oufit.

“I will be coming back home after the expiry of my current contract on June 30. Yes, we have talked with the KPC management but that doesn’t mean I’ve accepted the offer,” Bitok, who is currently in Nigeria with Rwanda beach volleyball team, told The Standard Sports.

“However, if given chance I will sign for them but I think Margaret (Indakala) is doing a good job right now.”
