Liverpool fans reveal conspiracy fears after Man City ease to victory at Man Utd

Liverpool fans smell a rat after Manchester City put one hand on the Premier League trophy on Wednesday night.

Reds fans have bombarded social media claiming bitter rivals Manchester United didn't even try.

Some took aim at David De Gea - and say his two rare errors came at a very suspicious time.

Liverpool desperately needed a favour at Old Trafford in what was City's game in hand.

But the current champions passed the biggest test they have left with flying colours - and returned to the top of the table in the process.

Now Liverpool need them to drop points at Burnley, Brighton or at home to Leicester.

Some have already given up home but many took to social media to suggest United were half-hearted in their approach.

One said on Twitter: "David De Gea must have a bet on City to win the league, should save both of those! We keep going to Friday, get the points and see what happens. To lose it by a point would be agonising."

Another wrote: "Gotta say someone should investigate De Gea for throwing a game! There’s no way he tried to stop those shots!"

Meanwhile, Roy Keane accused Manchester United midfielder Fred of "cheating" his team-mates during the defeat.

"You need to see Fred for the second goal if you are on about players giving it all," Keane said.

"That isn't giving his all, that is cheating. Just cheating letting the guy run off him."

He then took aim at Paul Pogba.

"I wouldn't believe a word he says. There's no meaning behind it," Keane said after Pogba's pre-match interview.

"He’s on about being a team-mate if you’re going to be a good teammate you’ve got to run back when you’re defending.

"The guy is a talented boy, but we’re saying the same thing over and over again.

"The number of times we’ve seen him in games where he is not sprinting or running back.

"I don’t think he leads by example, from what I see. I don’t know what he’s like on the training ground or when they’re travelling, but from what I see. He mentioned body language and pride, but I don’t see it in his performances.

"He’s talking about body language – but throws his hands up in the air.

"He’s a big problem for United."
