The Professor, Arsene Wenger is making a return to football.

Wenger stepped down as Arsenal head coach last year during the summer after spending 22 years in charge of the London-based club.

According to reports, the Frenchman is said to have turned down lucrative offers from top clubs.

French publication Le Parisien, as seen by Game Yetu, claim the ex-Arsenal man has been approached by world football governing body FIFA to head the technical development department.

The website reports FIFA boss Gianni Infantino wants Wenger to oversee changes in rules of the game as well as technological innovations.

A special adviser is reportedly waiting for Wenger in Zurich, Switzerland, even though he has not conclusively accepted the job.

Wenger, according to the publication, will turn down a ‘behind the scenes’ role at French giants Paris St Germain and will look to join Infantino in the coming days.

He has not revealed to the public what he intends to do with his football future but has hinted at a return to management, in one way or another.

'My future is unknown - even for me. I enjoy daily life now and I have been travelling a lot recently all over the world. I am enjoying a little bit less pressure. And more freedom as well. But I miss the competition,' said Wenger.

He has won three Premier League titles and seven FA cups during his time with the Gunners.
