Winless brewers seek first victory of the season in top league.

At the beginning of the season, Tusker were considered among the favourites to win SportPesa Premier League (SPL) this year.

But two matches into the season, the brewers have just a point after being held by Sony Sugar and losing to Western Stima away.

They welcome back head coach Robert Matano tomorrow as they seek their first victory against Mt Kenya United at Kasarani Stadium.

It will be the first match with Matano in the dugout since the season began as he has been away on sick leave.

Matano said he is looking forward to pick the team’s first win and expressed confidence it will happen after spending one week with his players in training.

“I have been away and so have not watched the first two matches of the season. However, the fact that both teams have not win makes it anyone’s match but we will work hard and get a better result.

“We have trained well this week and all the players are looking to perform and pick a good result. It is too early to call and we look forward to pick ourselves up.”

Before the season started, the brewers had signed up good players but they are yet to see the fruits of their signings if the current results are anything to go by.

Michael Madoya, the 2017 KPL player of the year, is among the new signings at Ruaraka but he is yet to bring out his best. Perhaps it is too early but he needs to start shining quickly.

Mt Kenya United remain winless as well after two matches and come into this fixture determined to turn around the situation setting the stage for what is expected to be an exciting fixture.

In Kisumu, Western Stima coach Paul Ogai is confident his team will win today's Western derby against Kakamega Homeboyz.

The power men won their first two opening matches of the season against Posta Rangers and Tusker with a goal in each game to remain unbeaten and fourth in the standings.

“It is going to be a tough match for both sides. My players are highly motivated after their season opener win,” Ogai said.

“Despite our form, we also know that Homeboyz are equally motivated after they beat AFC Leopards. This makes it a very tough fixture.”

In Kakamega, Vihiga United will host Sony Sugar at Bhukungu Stadium.
