Seven teams assemble at Manyatta Polo Club Gilgil today for the annual Christmas Polo Championships.

The tournament has been divided into three categories that involve junior and senior teams in the three-day extravaganza.

The senior competition, the Ndume Trophy, has attracted two teams that will play three round-robin matches.

The two teams set for the Ndume Trophy are handicap Seven Team A of Archie Voorspuy (3.5), Harry Griffiths (1.5), Kigen Moi (1) and Gideon Moi (1).

Handicap 6.5 Team B of Izzy Parsons (2.5), Kimoi Moi (2), Ben Stonewigg (1) and Harry Stichbury (1) will begin the tournament with an advantage of a half fraction of a goal thanks to their low handicap.

“We are set for the tournament after the conclusion of Moi Cup Championships last weekend,” Manyatta Polo Club captain Goddy Millar said.

The second tier tournament, Kesier Cup, has attracted four teams with different handicaps.

Team C will take on Team D in the opening match of the Kesier Cup Championships at 11:30am.
