Golfer Leon Kiptum appointed Betway Country Manager

Golfer Leon Kiptum has been appointed the Betway Country Manager.

Former Country Manager Wanja Gikonyo who was instrumental since the early stages of setting up Betway in Kenya has been reassigned to other senior duties within the organization.

Leon Kiptum who is a member of Royal Nairobi Golf Club played rugby in both high school and university, soccer while at Barclays and still regularly plays basketball.

He also actively participated in motorsport while at KCB having represented the bank in the national rally organising committee.
The 36 year old began as a marketing intern at Nairobi Bottlers before starting his 12 year career in Banking. 

He rose from a Sales Representative to Sales Manager at Barclays Bank and later moved to KCB as an Area Sales Manager.

Thereafter, he moved to Family Bank as Branch Manager where he was promoted to Head Consumer Banking. Within the same institution, he moved to Head of Digital Financial Services. This is where he spearheaded the development, usage and uptake of exciting products and services such as Mobile Lending, Mobile Banking, Agency Banking, MVISA, Card Solutions, Pesalink among other technology driven products.

After 7 years at Family Bank he moved to Sidian to setup their robust digital arm. While here with other digital and technology leads in Kenya, they founded the Digital Innovation Group that runs the Digital Disruption Caucus, a network that drives conversations on standards of tech-innovation and seeks to position Kenya as a thought leader in digital across Africa.
