KVF responds to pregnancy claims involving volleyball players

Kenya's volleyball queen- If you thought women's national volleyball team are pregnant, think again!

One day after rumors started that majority of Malkia Strikers are pregnant, Kenya Volleyball Federation has set the record straight over the whole drama.

The rumors started after a screen shot captioned “National volleyball team Malkia Strikers to miss World Championship as half of the team fall pregnant” hit the internet and stirred tons of gossip.

In a Facebook post, Kenya Volleyball Federation dismissed the rumors saying that Kenya will send the women's national volleyball team to the next month’s World Championship in Japan.

“In regard to the fake information circulating in the social media platform , that Kenya will not send the women's national volleyball team 'Malkia Strikers' to the next month’s World Championship in Japan due to multiple pregnancies. The federation wants to state categorically that the team will participate in the event,” read part of the statement.

KVF also revealed names of players who will not participate in the World Championship further quelling the pregnancy rumors why they were left out of the squad.

“We also want to take note of the mentioned players( Brackcidise Agala, Esther Wangeci, Lydia Maiyo, Mildred Odwako and Ruth Jepngetich) that they served the national team the best way they knew how during their time.

“However, the above players were not drafted in the provisional squad currently training at the Kasarani stadium ahead of the next month's championship.

“As for Evelyne Makuto, she has since shook of the injury and she is in training. Therefore it is really uncalled for to say, the team is handicapped when as a country we have amazing talent to choose from,” the statement added.
