We all remember the duo for their 2010 hit ‘Chokoza’, the last big Ogopa Deejays project any of them did before they each went their separate ways with both getting engaged. As Marya was getting married, Avril was breaking her engagement and now, the tables have turned:
After welcoming their first child in January last year, former Ogopa Deejays singer Marya and her husband Kevin Mutisya aka Kevo have part ways.
Marya broke the news this week as she revealed that she is single after the roller-coaster affair that saw the couple enjoy leisure holidays in Dubai where Kevin was staying before.
Controversial as they come, Marya had been labelled a ‘husband snatcher’ by Governor Sonko’s daughter Salma when that relationship started to blossom three years ago. And it now seems, it is this tug-of-war with Kevin’s other alleged lovers that was the cause of it all, if Marya’s post is anything to go by.
“I hate exposing ni**as but this one I just had to...When it comes to my family I will fight for them till the end and I don’t like it when people mess around with my blood,” Salma wrote, three years ago, as she suggested Marya was dating her uncle.
“Kevin is a married man...married to my auntie Jannie, a very beautiful woman and they have kids together so I don’t understand why a whole musician who is respected by Kenyans can date a married man,” she claimed.
Now Marya says: “They wished and their wished was granted, being a single mum will not be easy but God will guide me through. #singlemum #Gold calm my heart.”
As fate would have it, as Marya goes single, Avril, her fellow Chokoza hit maker who was going through a painful depression back then after getting dumped by her South African fiancé Leslie Mugadza is a new mother and back in love.
Two weeks ago, Avril and her entertainer boyfriend revealed that they are an item after posting engagement ring photos online. The second love declaration was made in Diani.
Avril posted an image; a photo with a shadow of her and the fiancé putting the ring on her. And well, Avril could excel where others have failed before. Love and hate? Strange thing this love.
