England legends Frank Lampard and Gary Lineker, plus current Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate led mourners on Tuesday in paying their respects to Ray Wilkins during a public memorial.

Wilkins, the Chelsea and Manchester United legend, suffered a cardiac arrest early last month before passing away in hospital on April 4.

The 61-year-old left wife Jackie and two children, Ross and Jade.

A footballing who's who arrived at St Luke's and Christ Church in Chelsea, including John Terry, Gianfranco Zola, Kevin Keegan, Glenn Hoddle, Trevor Brooking and current Blues boss Antonio Conte.

Wilkins helped United lift the FA Cup in 1983 during a 160 game spell at Old Trafford and earned 84 England caps, featuring at both the 1982 and 1986 World Cups.

He is most fondly remembered at Stamford Bridge however, having come through the ranks at the club.

He was twice named as the club's Player of the Year - in 1976 and 1977 - before returning as assistant manager to Carlo Ancelotti, helping the club to the Premier League and FA Cup double in the 2009-10 season.

Perhaps fittingly, United take on Chelsea in the FA Cup final on May 19 with fans of both sides due to come together to pay their respects.

Wilkins wore the No.8 shirt for both clubs and fans from the pair are planning to pay their own tribute, signing "There's only one Ray Wilkins" in the eighth minute.

United sold Wilkins to Italian giants AC Milan for £1.5million in 1984. He spent three years with the Rossoneri, becoming something of a cult figure, before a brief spell at Paris Saint-Germain and two years at Rangers.

He would go on to make over 150 league appearances for QPR, before also enjoying spells with Crystal Palace, Wycombe, Hibernian, Millwall and Leyton Orient.
