Former Kenyan Premier League (KPL) champions Tusker have laid claim to two players, who have already signed for Gor Mahia and Sofapaka.

If Tusker’s allegations are true, the duo of Stephen Waruru and Lawrence Juma risks a one-year ban for double signing.

The claim could also expose the greed of some players who walk around clubs collecting sign-on fees during the transfer window.

According to Tusker assistant coach Francis Barasa, Waruru, who was at Ulinzi and Juma, a former Nzoia Sugar defender, signed three-year contracts each with his side two weeks ago.

“In the case of Waruru, we had a meeting with him and our club chairman, where we agreed on his terms after which he signed a three-year contract after he was cleared by Ulinzi.

“The same case with Juma. He put pen to paper also for a three-year contract and we are therefore surprised that they have joined other clubs,” said Barasa.

But Sofapaka and Gor Mahia hit back insisting the two players were properly signed.

Sofapaka Secretary Emmanuel Kayoyi said Football Kenya Federation (FKF) had cleared the signing of Waruru.

“We took his documents to FKF and there was no objection or proof to show that he has signed for another team.

“He has signed a two-year contract after receiving a sign-on fee,” he said.
