If there is any golfer who enjoys Christmas today, then it is none other than Senior Martin Wahome.

Wahome, often known as Father of Champions, earned his Christmas gift after sinking a rare birdie to chalk up victory in the club nite golf tournament at the par 71 seaside Mombasa golf course at the weekend.

Playing off  handicap 10, Wahome beat 100 golfers after posting an eight over par 79 gross for 69 nett to take the overall title.

He’s the father of South African based Kenyan International Junior Mathew Wahome, former National Junior Player Jeremy Wahome and an upcoming youngster Andrew Wahome. 

Wahome’s victory came after sinking a birdie on the par four-tenth hole and added eight level pars despite playing a mixed bogey shots on both nines.

“I am happy to have the birdie. May be the first this and coming on such a great moment. It’s a Christmas gift,” said Wahome.

The day-long 18 hole contest saw  Nyali’s handicap 18  Pyra Singh claim runners up slot with 70 nett beating  club mate handicap 11 Sammy Kamau to the third slot by a stroke difference.

At Thika Sports Club, handicap five Paul Nduati emerged A division winner with 69 nett of the December 2017 monthly mug.

Playing off handicap 17, Moses Mburu won the B division while handicap 21 S K Ndungi wore the C division crown with 74 nett.

Rose Kangethe, playing off handicap 30, claimed the Lady’s title with 73 nett and handicap 27 Judy Njuguna took the guest prize with 77 nett.

At the par 70 Lake side Nyanza golf course in Kisumu, handicap 13 David Sate posted 40 points to beat 102 golfers in the 2017 Sunset golfing Society tournament.

Handicap 11 A Omollo took the runner up spot with 37 points while Vet Lab’s handicap 24 C Oloo returned third with 36 points.
