Former Real Madrid and Manchester City star Robinho has reportedly been sentenced to nine years in prison for alleged sexual assault.

Sky Italia report Robinho was sentenced by a court in Milan on Thursday.

The incident is said to have taken place at a disco in the Italian city in 2013, during his time at the San Siro.

Robinho is alleged to have been part of a group of six men who assaulted a 22-year-old Albanian girl.

The other five men were also found guilty in this case.

Robinho had denied the charges and will be given the opportunity to dispute the sentence, reports ANSA.

The Brazilian now plies his trade with Atletico Mineiro in Brazil.

He spent two years at City following his £32.5million move from Real Madrid before moving on to Santos.

Robinho was with Milan for five years from 2010.
