Kabras Sugar continued their dominance over Impala by beating the Sarries 19-7 to retain the Christie Sevens tournament at RFUEA Grounds on Sunday.

This was a repeat of the fourth leg final, Sepetuka Sevens, in Eldoret a fortnight ago where the millers trounced Impala 26-7 to win their first trophy of the season.

Explosive Ugandan winger Philip Wokorach, Malik Habil and Dan Sikuta scored a try each for Charles Cardovillis’ men to take their points tally to 85 and leap-frog Series champions Homeboyz at the top of the table.

Homeboyz, who were stunned 17-12 by Nakuru in the quarterfinals, dropped to third place with 78 points as Impala moved up to second position (82 points) ahead of the Dala Sevens (Oct 21-22), the final leg of the season.

The Sarries went ahead through Leo Seje’s converted try before Wokorach made it 7-5 for Kabras to take a slim halftime lead.

Sikuta touched down after the break before Habil reacted quickest to a loose ball and sealed the victory with a well converted try.

Nakuru beat Quins 12-5 in the third place playoffs as Mwamba overcame Kenya Commercial Bank 21-10 to finish fifth. Nondescripts saw off Western Bulls 36-14 to lift the Challenge Trophy.

Kabras set up a repeat of Sepetuka final with Impala after beating Nakuru 19-12 as the Sarries defeated  their Ngong Road rivals Kenya Harlequins 17-10 to sail through.

Gramwell Bunyasi’s converted try put Nakuru in front before Dominic Osino converted Philip Wokorach’s try to level the scores. The Ugandan landed his double before Brian Tanga scored under the posts to see Kabras lead 19-7 at half time. Kenyan international Oscar Ouma would ground a second try for Nakuru but it was not enough to cut the deficit.

Richard Sidindi was the hero after scoring a match winning converted try as Impala laboured to beat Quins 17-10.

Mark Kwemoi put Impala ahead with an early try before Max Theuri responded to ensure the teams go into the break tied at 5-5.

Kenyan international Eden Agero then grabbed the second try for Quins, but his celebration was cut short by Sammy Oliech who powered his way to the tryline before Sidindi’s converted try secured a final ticket for Impala.

Earlier on, Nakuru had thrown the overall circuit title race wide open after stunning champions and leaders Homeboyz 17-12 in the quarterfinals.

Bunyasi, Geoff Ominde and Monate Akwei scored a try each for Wanyore to book semis date with eventual winners.
