Championships: Action galore as KECOSO games enter crucial stages

Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) continued to register impressive results as this year's KECOSO Games Festival entered Day Three in Kisumu yesterday.

Their women's basketball team defeated Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) 71-56 and Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) 68-43, while their men's side defeated KCAA 3-1 in volleyball.

The KPA team defeated KCAA 3-1 (25-18, 25-20, 22-25 and 25-20) in men's volleyball.

Kenya Maritime Authority (KMA) narrowly beat KAA 3-2 in another volleyball match after posting 25-22, 22-25, 18-25, 25-18 and 25-20.

Salma Achieng scored 37 points for KMA as they defeated KAA 52-48. Hellen Sionya scored 29 for KPA. 

Same venue

The KCAA team walloped KAA 68-28 in another encounter at the same venue while KBC won in pool after defeating KAA 18-7 before defeating Ministry of Information, Communications and Technology 2-0 in scrabble.

In football, KMA defeated KAA 3-0 in a one-sided encounter at Moi Stadium. Mohammed Yusuf, Kibwana Ali and Alpha Ouma scored in the 16th, 52nd and 91st minutes for the victory.

Meanwhile, it rained goals yesterday as Ministry of Sports Culture and Arts (Mosca) defeated KAA 8-1.

Mosca overcame an earlier 2-0 loss to KPA in their opening match to register a well-timed comeback.

Philbert Ochieng and William Odero scored a hat-trick before Aslam Sajad and Olesu Tetien added a goal each. [Phillip Orwa]
