Gor Mahia play Mathare United this afternoon at Thika Municipal Stadium.

It is a match that brings together two teams that have produced contrasting results this season.

While Gor Mahia have kept their foot on the peddle, the same cannot be said of Mathare.

Last weekend, Mathare suffered a humiliating 5-1 loss at the hands of Ulinzi Stars at Afraha Stadium and followed it up with a barren draw against Chemelil Sugar.

But it is this poor form that makes Mathare United very dangerous side to play and Gor Mahia must watch out.

With nothing to lose but everything to gain, Mathare will not be under pressure. Furthermore, a win over Gor Mahia will be a very big motivation for the slum boys, who last won the league in 2008.

Mathare seem to have paid a big price for letting go of their first team players at the start of the season.

On the flip side, the move could pay a big dividend once the young players jell. Playing against Gor Mahia is one such opportunity to help the youngsters to mature.

It is one match Gor Mahia cannot afford to drop points considering the competition at the top.

Second placed Gor Mahia are separated from leaders Rangers by just two points which means every match counts.
