Defending champions Letarakwai Lengorosi and Susan Wakapana will be back to defend their titles in the second edition of Marsabit-Lake Turkana Half Marathon scheduled for May 4, in Loyangalani, Turkana County.

This was confirmed by the organisers at the launch of the race’s second edition in Nairobi yesterday.

This year’s race has already attracted over 2,500 athletes. This is a sharp increase from the 600 runners who took part in the inaugural edition last year.

Besides the 21km elite race (men and women), the event will feature 21km for community teams, 21km county relay (47 counties), 10km Corporate Challenge, 10km moran race (community warriors), 10km women’s race (community women) and three kilometres family fun run.

The race will be preceded by cultural festivals that also run alongside the event to showcase the beauty of Turkana people and their way of life. [Erick Ochieng’]
