Rift Valley Institute edge PC Kinyanjui in rugby

National champions Rift Valley Institute of Science and Technology (RVIST) beat PC Kinyanjui 3-0 to make it to rugby finals in the ongoing Kenya Technical Training Institutes Sports Organization (KETTISO) games staged at their backyard in Nakuru Tuesday.

Cyrus Nyaundi of RVIST scored from a penalty spot and were set to meet Sang’alo in the finals. On their part, Sanga’lo edged out Sigalagala Technical by the same margin with Edwin Waswa scoring.

RVIST lead Pool A table standings with nine points from three matches while Sang’alo finished runners up with six points. In Pool B, Sigalagala topped with nine points from three matches as PC Kinyanjui came second with six.

In netball, Friends College, Kaimosi (FCK) continued with their winning streak in preliminary matches hitting Mombasa 26-10 in Pool A and later demolished PC Kinyanjui 33-5.

Pool A matches saw Kaiboi hit Nkabune 24-12, Mombasa clobbered PC Kinyanjui 17-3, Thika lost 4-25 to Kaiboi, Mombasa hammered Thika 22-5 and Nkabune dismissed PC Kinyanjui 19-15.

In the men’s football, RVIST increased their chances of making it to the last four after overcoming stubborn Coast Institute 2-0 in an entertaining Pool B preliminary match.

Oscar Agenda drew first blood from the penalty spot in the 10th before James Cliff added the second ten minutes later for the home team.

In other Pool B matches, Keroka hopes of the next stage were boosted as they won  their two matches hitting Kabete 2-0 and Ruika 5-0.

Against Kabete, they scored through Sammy Sindani and Kevin Omondi while Herman Opati and Kevin Omondi  scored a brace each with Robert K. netting the fifth against Ruika.

In men’s volleyball, FCK lost 3-1 sets (25-23, 25-23, 18-15 and 26-18) to Mombasa in Pool B while RVIST lost 3-0 (25-21, 25-15 and 25-18) to Ole Lessos.

Rift Valley Technical Training Institute (RVTTI) demolished Nyeri 3-2 (25-16, 18-25, 16-25, 25-17 and 15-8) in a tough match. RVTTI lost their second game against Coast Institute 3-0 sets (25-14, 25-14 and 25-19).
