Kenya losses gold to Ethiopia but still optimistic

By Mercy Oyaya

Team Kenya has again lost gold medal to Ethiopia marking a disappointment to the fans. The women marathon dabbed African party saw Ethiopia’s Tiki Gelana collect Gold in a record time of 2hrs 23minute and seven seconds.

Kenya’s Priscah Jeptoo finished second at a record time of 2:23:12 earning Kenya a silver medal and Tatyana Petrova of Russia came third for bronze.

Mary Keitany finished 4th.

This follows the disappointment encountered at the men’s 10,000m where Kenya lost medals after Bedan Karioki Muchiri finished 5th and Moses Ndiema Maasai finished 12th.

However, Kenya’s hope for gold is still high since it will be chasing men’s steeplechase tonight from 11.25pm and women’s steeplechase on Monday after the world’s 3000m steeplechase medallist Milka Chemos and Mercy Njoroge qualified for finals.
